Rejection is Great! Seriously! Now Hear Me Out!
In schools, we are entering the staffing cycle. A cycle that is full of new opportunities as we begin preparing for this September. What choices will you make this year?
Will it be a grade change? Subject change? School change? Online teaching? Leadership?
My husband has always said, you are lucky to have so many choices in your profession. And yes, that is true. I have made a lot of choices and a lot of choices have been made for me. Which brings me to my point?
Recently, I was reading Gabby Bernstein’s book: Super Attractor. Among other tidbits that I wrote down, this quote stood out:
“Rejection is protection.”
Yes! Emphatically, yes!
They say, you look back at your life, connect all the dots and it all makes sense.
I have applied for a variety of positions over my career. In every case, looking back, I see those dots align. I see that where I was redirected to, made sense. It can be that the job I thought I wanted, went off the rails and it was blessing to have dodged the experience. Other times, and this is most times, I was rejected, then redirected to something I needed; new influences/mentors, friends (many for life) and experiences that have enriched my creative pursuits inside and outside my profession. So as Gabby sees it, we are protected from an experience, and that something better was coming along.
I see it this way – Rejection is redirection. You will end up somewhere that fits some divine plan.
I guess, you can also see it this way too. “No, you can’t always get what you want…”
So be brave, make some choices.
And, it will work out, as it was meant to.
Until Next Time,
